The last time a first-year Red Sox player was named an All-Star was just two years ago when Kenley Jansen represented the American League after signing a two-year free-agent deal the winter prior.
However, he has a strong track record. He's a former All-Star, Gold Glove winner and Silver Slugger. He's also a switch hitter with power. The Guardians are likely to sell this year at the deadline, and Santana is a solid rental piece for a contending team such as the Red Sox.
