Manchester United will pocket a significant bonus after Real Madrid completed the long-awaited €50 million (£42m/$57m) signing of Alvaro Carreras.

With Benfica selling Carreras at a profit of around £38m, Manchester United are owed 20 per cent of that sum, which will see them pocket around £7.6m.
