For academics, historians and activists, the past year has been tumultuous in advocating the teaching of Black history in the United States.

From free film screenings in York to theatrical performances in Harrisburg and Lancaster, there are several events that celebrate Black culture and history throughout February.

A community-centered Black History Month marketplace bringing together local entrepreneurs and artisans to celebrate culture, heritage and cooperative economics. The event also includes free historic church tours highlighting Wheat Street’s role in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn and civil rights history.
