Last month, a non-peer-reviewed study commissioned by Moms Across America alleged that Girl Scout Cookies had toxins in them.

A proposed class action lawsuit was filed against the Girl Scouts on Monday night in a federal court in New York by consumers who allege that “heavy metals” and pesticides are present in their popular cookies.

The Girl Scouts organization has been made the subject of a lawsuit accusing Girl Scout cookies of containing dangerous pesticides and heavy metals.

And speaking of gut punches, the Girl Scouts are now facing a class action lawsuit in the federal courts of New York. The non-profit organization and the licensed bakers of their beloved cookies (ABC Bakers & Ferrero USA’s Little Brownie Bakers) are being sued, and the studies that Joe Rogan brought attention to are being cited.

The nonprofit denied claims its cookies include metals, arguing some pesticides are found “nearly everywhere in the food chain.”

Many wonder when and where you can buy these treats, and time is running out. The deadline to get cookies in Georgia is Sunday, March 9, so stock up now. Sales around the country can vary by location, however. According to the Girl Scout website, "Councils generally conduct their cookie season between January and April."

The Girl Scouts of the USA told Fox News Digital its products are safe to consume amid the recent controversy about "toxic" ingredients after report found traces of metals.
