Few college basketball freshmen have carried the expectations Cooper Flagg brought with him to Durham this season. Despite reclassifying to reach the Duke Blue Devils a year early, Flagg won a national title as a high-school senior before scrimmaging against the U.

Cooper Flagg seems to have it in himself to be a captain, as third-year Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer still hasn't confirmed any players in that leadership role for the 2024-25 Blue Devils. Entrusting Flagg with that distinction would be unprecedented for a freshman in Durham. But so is everything else about him.

It was a breakthrough week for Cooper Flagg and the Duke men’s basketball team. After dropping tight contests to Kentucky and Kansas earlier in the season, the Newport native and the Blue Devils had their most impressive performance of the season, taking down No. 2 Auburn, 84-78, before landing a 76-65 victory over Louisville.
