As the contentious debate over rebuilding a trash incinerator near Doral continues, Miami-Dade commissioners voted Tuesday to postpone the decision until next year.

The incinerator has been at the center of controversy as Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levin Cava has suggested that the incinerator stay in Doral, but the suggestion has drawn a divisive response.

The county commission was set to vote on a final location for the incinerator on Tuesday, Dec. 3, but deferred a decision until February.

The issue of the Doral incinerator and its future was supposed to come up at Tuesday’s Miami-Dade County Commission meeting, but the mayor confirmed that the commission will likely vote on whether to defer the issue. "So this has been a long process," Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said.
