Equinor said bad weather delayed the start of production at Norway's Johan Castberg offshore oil field until early next year. The Norwegian energy major had planned to start up Johan Castberg during the fourth quarter of this year but said operations will now come on stream in January or February next year.
First production from Equinor’s Johan Castberg FPSO pushed back to early 2025
The operator Equinor and project partner Vaar Energi confirmed this on Tuesday and noted that first production has been pushed back until early next year “due to adverse weather conditions in the Barents Sea during the final stage of commissioning and start-up”, said Vaar.

The operational lifespan of the field, situated approximately 100km north of the Snøhvit field, is projected 30 years.
