DNC Chair Ken Martin, former chair of the state Democratic Party in Minnesota, said Hortman was “the very best Speaker of the House that Minnesota ever had.”

Hortman and her husband, Mark, were shot and killed at their home in Brooklyn Park early Saturday by a suspect who posed as a police officer, investigators said.
