The San Antonio Spurs’ hopes of advancing in the second annual NBA Cup came to an end as they were officially eliminated following the conclusion of group play against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. Despite valiant efforts throughout the tournament, the Spurs fell short of securing a quarterfinal knockout round berth.

While their offense struggled mightily, the Spurs turned to an old staple - their defense - in competing with the Suns for an NBA Cup title.

The Suns picked up a victory over the Spurs to close out group play in the NBA Cup, but they were eliminated from the tournament via tiebreakers.
