Tropical Storm Fernand is expected to continue weakening over the central Atlantic Ocean for the next couple of days and pose no threat to land, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said early Tuesday.

The season's sixth named storm, Tropical Storm Fernand, weakened slightly overnight in the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to dissipate before the end of the work week, forecasters said Tuesday.

Tropical Storm Fernand is forecast to weaken as it churns over the open Atlantic Ocean, and odds have plummeted for a system to develop near the eastern Caribbean.
