Goods shipped from the country face a 39% tariff in the U.S., which companies warn will have dire consequences if President Trump cannot be quickly dissuaded.

Switzerland removed tariffs on nearly all imports in 2024, and had virtually free access to its markets for U.S. products. But Keller-Sutter said last week that Trump was focused on its trade surplus with the United States, which amounted to 38.5 billion Swiss francs ($48 billion) last year.

Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter said she had a "very good meeting" with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday as Switzerland strives for a deal to avert a crippling 39% tariff on its exports to the United States.
