The Uber Shikara service is the first of its kind in Asia and follows in the footsteps of similar services in European cities like Venice

Uber has launched its first water transport service, allowing tourists to book shikara rides on Dal Lake at government-regulated rates, ensuring fair pricing directly benefiting local operators.

The service was launched by Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, who booked the inaugural shikara ride via the app.

According to Reuters, Uber now offers boat-hailing services on Dal Lake, located in the Kashmir region in India. These wooden Shikara boats are decorated with bright colors and have seemingly comfortable pillows to let tourists enjoy a scenic boat ride.
