Wizz Air says it will suspend its Abu Dhabi operations starting Sept. 1. The Hungarian low-cost airline cited geopolitical instability, supply chain issues, and limited market access as key challenges.

Wizz Air Holdings Plc said it will suspend operations in Abu Dhabi amid persistent engine issues that have grounded aircraft, as well as geopolitical challenges and regulatory barriers as the budget carrier tries to keep costs under control.

Wizz Air CEO József Váradi cited ‘limited market access and supply chain constraints’ on its decision to shut down its Abu Dhabi base. “We had a tremendous journey in the Middle East but the operating environment has changed significantly.”
