Cleveland Cavs forward De'Andre Hunter will be out of the lineup for the team's opening night matchup vs the Knicks.
The Cavaliers are keeping Jaylon Tyson around for at least another year. Cleveland picked up Tyson’s third-year team option, the club announced Wednesday, locking in the 6-foot-6 wing for the 2026-27 season.
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks open their season Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
“Development: New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns has been downgraded to doubtful to play in tonight’s season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote. The Knicks announced Towns’ status, confirming the development on their official injury report submitted to the NBA moments later.
Hunter played only the first half of Cleveland’s final preseason game. He bumped knees with a member of the Detroit Pistons in the first quarter, attempted to play for a few minutes in the second, and then chose to sit the rest of the game.
