Consider this an official petition to call Week 12 of the 2025 college football season "Decision Weekend." It -- obviously -- isn't the last slate of games on the schedule, nor is it the last chance for teams to impress the College Football Playoff selection committee .

After earning a first round bye, Mount Union will open the NCAA Division III college football playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 29.

Back to Notre Dame. The way it works with the selection committee is that head-to-head results are something of a tiebreaker. The committee judges teams in small groups, and if teams are close, the result of a game between the two is generally supposed to rule the day.

No. 17 USC recorded a statement win with a 26-21 victory over No. 21 Iowa at home. The Trojans held the Hawkeyes scoreless in the second half and erased an early 21-7 deficit to move to 8-2 (6-1 Big Ten). USC was powered by another big performance from star wide receiver Makai Lemon, who finished with 10 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown.

The Oklahoma Sooners' win over the Alabama Crimson Tide was the most significant result to affect the College Football Playoff projections. Oklahoma, who entered Saturday at No. 11, now looks like a playoff team as long as it wins out.
