* UPDATE * Eagles practice reveals promising updates on injured starters and a Nolan Smith sighting
The Eagles held their second practice of the week Thursday in South Philadelphia ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings in Minnesota.
Tight end Grant Calcaterra (oblique) remained the only Eagles player out of practice. Left guard Landon Dickerson (ankle) was limited while both linebacker Zack Baun (finger) and defensive tackle Jordan Davis (shoulder) were full participants for the second day in a row.
Wentz, the Eagles’ ex-franchise quarterback, is likely to start against his former team when Philadelphia faces the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell hasn’t made any announcements. But ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, who covers the Vikings, reported that “Wednesday’s circumstances indicated” Wentz will start.
It won’t be easy to get back on track — the Eagles face a Vikings defense that ranks sixth in the NFL. Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores is known for creating chaos with blitzes and simulated pressures — two areas that have caused problems for Philadelphia’s offense.
The matchup came down to the final play of the game. Trailing by four points, the Eagles got down to the 29-yard field goal before facing a second down with four seconds remaining. Quarterback Jalen Hurts threw the ball into the end zone, but the pass was broken up and time expired, giving Denver its first win in Philly since 1986.
