The map included with the update showed a 60 to 90 percent chance of at least 1 inch of snow in parts of Texas, specifically Stratford. Perryton, Gruver, and Dalhart had a 30 to 60 percent chance, with Amarillo and surrounding areas having a 10 to 30 percent chance.
Temperatures will gradually warm by Wednesday, but the mild stretch will be short-lived as another blustery cold front moves in soon after.
With La Niña in place, snow is even less likely in South Texas this year, but history shows significant winter storms still occur from time to time.
