U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Tuesday said more than 100 people were arrested during an operation the day before in a sprawling, majority Latino housing development outside of Houston — but only released information about one of the arrests.

One person was arrested as part of a Colony Ridge operation targeting "criminals and illegal immigrants," federal authorities announced less than 24 hours after Gov. Greg Abbott said state troopers and federal agents were descending on the neighborhood northeast of Houston.

Conservative state officials have previously accused the residential community north of Houston of being a safe haven for people in the country without legal status. It was not immediately clear Tuesday whether the reported number of arrests were made this week or as part of ongoing enforcement initiatives.
