One of President Donald Trump’s most persistent legal foes is going after the Epstein files. Norm Eisen—the former White House ethics chief under former President Barack Obama and a longtime critic of Trump—has filed a sweeping Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request demanding the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation hand over any files related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein that may reference the former president.
"It is now widely reported that President Trump is indeed included in the Epstein files," the ex-official said. "That makes our request for these records more urgent than ever."
Jeffrey Epstein reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors in 2007 when George W. Bush was president and Alex Acosta was the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida. The agreement was reached months before Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008.
