J.J. Spaun managed the rain and a tough Oakmont course to win the 2025 U.S. Open, the first major victory for the California-native.

Adam Scott put his approach in the tall grass behind the green. Sam Burns left his on the slope of a trap. Neither got on the green from there ... and from there, things continued to derail for both players. Both had long bogey putts.

World No 1 Scottie Scheffler (70) finished in a share of seventh with Jon Rahm (67), while Rory McIlroy’s 67 hurtled him into the top 20 on seven over. But this was Spaun’s day. And, of course, Oakmont’s week. The toughest course in the world was in its element.
