January 13 - Jackson Shelstad recorded 17 points and eight assists to guide No. 15 Oregon to an 82-81 road victory over Penn State on Sunday in University Park, Pa. Shelstad, who did not record a turnover, was one of six Ducks to score in double figures.

Purdue won the Big Ten by three games last season, despite three road losses. Yet it also went to Champaign and beat its closest competitor — the Illini — in the penultimate game of the regular season.

Purdue enters today’s game on a six-game win streak, tied for the second-longest active streak in the conference. Meanwhile, Oregon has made a habit of close games of late, taking the win in their last three games by a combined total of seven points.

Purdue’s offense is clicking, scoring 79 or more points in four of its last six games, including 104 against Nebraska two games ago. Smith’s poise at point guard allows the offense to travel well, and the team should find openings behind the arc against a Ducks defense that ranks 140th in 3-point defense vs. the average opponent (per Haslametrics).
