Gameday: Sabres at Kraken
It’s the second and final meeting of the 2024-25 season between the Buffalo Sabres and Seattle Kraken. Nine days ago, the Kraken ripped off six-unanswered goals in Buffalo to stun the Sabres 6-2 at KeyBank Center.
Jared McCann had a goal and two assists while John Hayden, Chandler Stephenson, Matty Beniers, Jamie Oleksiak and Adam Larsson also scored for Seattle. Ryker Evans tallied a pair of assists, and goalie Joey Daccord stopped 25 of 29 shots. The Sabres went 1-for-3 on the power play and killed one of two shorthanded situations.
The Sabres fell to 1-7 against the Kraken since Seattle joined the league in 2021, easily their worst record against any current NHL team. Seattle has outscored the Sabres 40-24
The Sabres staged a comeback in the second period, tying the score at 3-3 on goals from Jason Zucker and Thompson. Once again, the Kraken responded quickly, with defenseman Jamie Oleksiak pinching down from the offensive blue line to bury a one-timer just 56 seconds after Thompson had scored the tying goal.
Seattle has a 7-1 record all-time against the Sabres and has outscored them, 40-24. And remember, this is a fourth-year franchise that has only made the playoffs once and isn't likely to get there this year either.
Jack Quinn scored twice and the Buffalo Sabres spoiled the Ottawa Senators' homecoming with a 4-0 win Thursday night.
The Buffalo Sabres fell short in a 6-4 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Monday afternoon at Climate Pledge Arena.
