Star first baseman Jonathan Aranda will miss time with a left wrist injury after he collided with New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton while reaching for an errant throw.

The Tampa Bay Rays placed All-Star first baseman Jonathan Aranda on the 10-day injured list on Friday after a collision in Thursday's game resulted in a fractured left wrist. Aranda left the game after a fifth-inning collision with New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton,

Aranda's glove, and left wrist, collided with the 6-foot-6, 245-pound Stanton. Aranda dropped the ball and then his mitt before clutching his wrist, hopping in pain and then crouching and falling to the ground. He was attended to by an athletic trainer and Rays manager Kevin Cash.
