Tropical Storm Fernand was approximately 300 miles southeast of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph as of 5 a.m.

MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Juliette formed Monday in the Pacific Ocean hundreds of miles from Mexico’s Baja California peninsula as Tropical Storm Fernand churned in the Atlantic Ocean. No coastal watches or warnings were in effect for either storm, the Miami-based U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

According to the hurricane center, Fernand was forecast to remain over the open ocean well east and northeast of Bermuda. "Some strengthening is possible today. Weakening is expected to begin tonight, and Fernand is expected to become post-tropical on Wednesday," the center said.
