Freed British hostage Emily Damari says she is “the happiest person in the world” following her release from Hamas on Sunday.

The family at last reunited after the darkness of her captivity in Gaza. The British-Israeli national was shot in the hand and dragged from her home in southern Israel on 7 October 2023. She was also injured by shrapnel and saw her dog Choocha shot and killed.

Emily Damari, the last remaining British hostage in Gaza, has now been released by Hamas. The 28-year-old British-Israeli had been in captivity for over a year. Her mum Mandy Damari said: "After 471 days Emily is finally home.
