With a maximum of 11 games remaining under classical time control, the scores are tied at 1.5-1.5. This was after Liren won the opener and the second game ended in a draw.

Every win in the World Championship 2024 will provide D Gukesh an opportunity to add close to Rs crore in Indian rupees to his bank account. Overall, Gukesh could earn more than Rs 10 crore in prize money at World Chess Championship 2024.

Indian grandmaster D Gukesh is currently playing the biggest tournament of his chess career as he lock horns against China's Ding Liren in a series of matches for the World Chess Championship title. The Indian is the youngest challenger for the world title.

Both D Gukesh and Ding Liren now have 1.5 points each after the second game ended in a draw on Tuesday and a victory for the Indian on Wednesday

Just as the World Championship heads into its first rest day, Gukesh's win is significant, both in its manner and its timing.

After losing with White on Monday, the challenger was in control, agreeing a 23-move draw with the Chinese champion

"This early, with black, was nowhere close to a must-win," Gukesh said. "So, I was never going to do anything stupid." He's clearly in this for the long haul and knows that overcommitting too early might be it for this match.
