A fuel spill in Baltimore turned parts of the Inner Harbor red and prompted ongoing cleanup efforts, city officials said.

Johns Hopkins will fund the cleanup of a massive oil spill in the Baltimore Harbor that originated from tanks fueling its health care facilities, a university spokesperson said in a statement Thursday night.

Nearly 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into Baltimore's Inner Harbor Wednesday, prompting clean-up efforts. The spill was linked to a Johns Hopkins facility. Crews are using absorbent material and skimmers to contain the fuel and minimize environmental impacts.
