The North Korean navy’s botched launch of a brand-new destroyer this week revealed a key vulnerability for leader Kim Jong Un: His massive military is woefully equipped.

Kim Jong Un’s dream of modernizing his country’s outdated naval fleet suffered a major setback after a much-touted warship crashed into the water after a botched exit from the dock.

KCNA previously said the incident was caused by a loss of balance while the vessel was being launched and sections of the bottom of the warship were crushed.
