The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory in Oklahoma City, warning of heat index values up to 109 degrees and advising precautionary measures.

A heat advisory was issued for Brevard County and the surrounding areas of Central Florida on July 18 as National Weather Service meteorologists warn of above-normal temperatures heading into the weekend.

The heat index could get as high as 111 in South Florida, with the strongest heat expected along the southern Gulf Coast.

The conditions, including high humidity, could cause heat-related illnesses, according to the warning. “The long duration of this event is likely to worsen heat-related impacts,” the National Weather Service stated.

The NWS is expecting a high of 98 degrees Thursday, which would be the hottest temperature recorded in the region this year. The Metroplex has not crossed into 100 degrees yet; the hottest day of the year thus far was 97 degrees on July 10.
