Here’s a number: the Utah Hockey Club is now 25 games into its first season. With that in mind, and after some yo-yo performances recently, it’s worth taking stock of what’s going on at the Delta Center on the ice.

Tyler Seguin and the Dallas Stars will be in Utah a lot this month. Get to know them before the action begins.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Casey DeSmith made 34 saves for the Dallas Stars, who held on to defeat the Utah Hockey Club 2-1 at Delta Center on Monday. It was DeSmith's first win since Oct. 24.

The 4 Nations Face-Off will be the first time NHL players have been able to compete in a best-on-best tournament since the World Cup of Hockey in 2016. NHL players last played in the Olympic games in 2014 in Sochi before the league prohibited them from participating in 2018 and 2022 due to cost and season disruptions.

For the third time this month, the Utah Hockey Club will face the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. The Golden Knights won both previous games. In both instances, Utah HC gained a 2-0 lead, but ultimately let it slip away.

DeSmith, coming off a disastrous outing in which he gave up six goals, came up big for Dallas in the win over Utah.

Earlier this year, before Ashley and Ryan Smith acquired the team, the Arizona Coyotes had the lowest valuation among the NHL's 32 teams, somewhere around $500 million.

What a big win for the Dallas Stars over the Utah Hockey Club. They won both games on the back-to-back and Casey DeSmith played incredibly well.
