U.S. Sen. Susan Collins announced on Monday that she will vote to confirm Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence. Gabbard’s nomination was believed to be on shaky ground after last week’s confirmation hearing before the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, on which Collins and Sen. Angus King serve.

Based on a dossier financed by Hillary Clinton’s campaign, Gabbard accused intelligence agencies of abusing their power, citing the FBI’s misuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to spy on Carter Page, a Trump campaign aide.

Collins, a pivotal swing vote on the Senate Intelligence Committee, is expected to play a key role in advancing Gabbard’s nomination as the committee meets on Tuesday.
