Spirit’s costs, especially for labor, have risen. The biggest U.S. airlines have snagged some of Spirit’s budget-conscious customers by offering their own brand of bare-bones tickets.

Spirit plainly states that customers with existing reservations can still use their tickets. Their flight credits and loyalty points are also still valid, and can be redeemed as usual.

Spirit Airlines said customers will be able to use their credits and loyalty points “as normal.” The airline’s frequent flyer program is called the Free Spirit loyalty program.

Travelers with plans to fly Spirit Airlines over the holidays shouldn’t worry, but the airline’s bankruptcy could affect frequent flyers and routes down the line.
