Tindall (reluctantly) spent six months attempting to go it alone at Bournemouth, but aside from his brief spell as part of Paul Heckingbottom’s staff at Sheffield United, he had never been without Howe for any of their previous 710 matches as a duo.

Howe is currently recovering in hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia, leaving Tindall to take charge of the team on Sunday for the victory over Manchester United
