As 27 million Americans are under severe thunderstorm and flood watch on Wednesday, a line of strong storms packing intense rainfall is threatening the Mid-Atlantic.
WASHINGTON — Some storms that move through the area Sunday will pack heavy rain, enough to cause flooding in some neighborhoods. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for D.C. Metro. Sunday July 13, 2025 Noon until 2 a.m.
A map from AccuWeather warned that the highest-risk areas for flash flooding are Southern New Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, much of Maryland, Eastern and Central Virginia and Northern North Carolina. Downpours associated with the storms could be severe enough to cause travel disruptions and flash floods, the map said.
Chantal is expected to bring rounds of heavy rain from the Carolinas through southeastern Virginia and southern Delaware by Monday evening.
