A Maryland man who was wrongly deported to a notorious prison in El Salvador is “alive and secure” in the facility, according to the US State Department.

In a filing on Saturday, the U.S. State Department, however, did not address a judge's demands that the Trump administration detail what steps it is taking to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia was arrested near his Maryland home in March and deported to an El Salvador prison. His family has sued to force his return.
