On Wednesday at 4:21 a.m. a winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 4 p.m. until Friday 1 p.m. for Clearfield, Cambria and Somerset counties.

Winter storm watches continue for parts of New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio on Wednesday, where lake-effect snow is expected to wallop parts of the Great Lakes region, while a good portion of the continental United States is experiencing bitter-cold temperatures.

Over 6 inches of snow is possible in parts of Pennsylvania, including the Pocono Mountains, as a winter storm brews in the Northeast.

The National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning at 4:18 a.m. on Wednesday valid from 4 p.m. until Friday 1 p.m. for Mercer, Venango, Forest, Clarion and Jefferson counties.

Another round of lake-effect snow is on the way Wednesday night into Thursday, with near-blizzard conditions and up to a foot of additional snow for some in the Great Lakes and Northeast regions. The latest batch follows bands of extreme snowfall that have dumped a widespread 3 to 5 feet of snow in the region near Lakes Erie and Ontario.

Erie County's lake-effect snow warning is set to come to an end Tuesday. That doesn't mean there won't be more lake-effect snow this week.
