ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers optioned slumping slugger Jake Burger to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, at a time when the entire team is struggling to score runs. The move was made before the Rangers' 13-1 loss at home in the opener of a three-game series against AL West-leading Seattle.

The Texas Rangers are demoting slugger Jake Burger to Triple-A Round Rock, according to multiple reports. Burger, 29, is batting .190 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 30 games. He went 1-for-3 in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Athletics.

Because Burger still has one minor league option remaining, he will not have to clear waivers before being sent down to the minors. This move comes after an abysmal 30 games from Burger to open up the year,

According to a post on Twitter/X, the Phillies have sent minor league right-handed pitcher Enrique Segura to the Rangers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Daniel Robert. Robert was then optioned to Lehigh Valley Triple-A.
