This species is often considered a “nuisance” to most homeowners due to their burrows disrupting lawns and gardens. Moles play an important role in our environment by eating insects and grubs underground and being a food source for birds of prey such as hawks and owls. This Eastern Mole (24-2592) was admitted from North Fort Myers after it was flooded out of its burrow from recent storms.
