Throughout the month of July, we will be highlighting items from the print shop at the Sacramento History Museum and we will be using red, white, and blue ink. In this video, Howard letterpress printed an image from a photo engraving from the Bill Skarles Collection. This patriotic cut depicts a bald eagle. July 1st is National Postal Workers Day! It is a day to make sure to send thanks to those that make sure our mail arrives in a timely manner. For today, Jared letterpress printed two electrotype (copies) that was made in the 1930s and depict many of the common words and images you would find printed on the outside of packages and mail such as fragile, rush, do not bend, caution, etc. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. We are thankful for our mail carrier
