There was something special at Crewe station this morning! The Peppercorn A2 locomotive Blue Peter 60532. Built in 1948 at Doncaster, it’s the only one of its class still around. Back in the day it hauled fast passenger trains on the East Coast Main Line before moving up to Scotland to work between Aberdeen and Edinburgh. In 1951 it even hit 100mph on a test run.
