This stone from Morocco’s southwest coast is a fragment of Banded Iron Formation, specifically Jaspilite. It’s an ancient, dense sedimentary rock with alternating layers of iron-rich material and silica. The stone has a smooth, wave-tumbled surface with a red-orange to reddish-brown colour from red jasper (silica coloured by hematite) and mottled black to dark maroon sections of iron oxides (likely magnetite or hematite), giving it a high-contrast appearance and durability as a beach stone. ‎هذا

This smooth, water-worn beach pebble is Brecciated or Mottled Jasper or a highly altered volcanic rock. Its deep reddish-brown colour comes from iron oxide (hematite), common in jaspers and volcanic rocks. The olive-green patches are probably Epidote or Chlorite, minerals formed by altering calcium-rich igneous rocks. The red and green combination creates a striking, two-toned appearance typical of regional formations. ‎حصاة الشاطئ الناعمة البالية في الماء هذه عبارة عن جاسبر مرقط أو صخرة بركانية
